She asks Aslan what would have happened if she had been more faithful, and if the others had believed her insistence that she had seen Aslan. Aslan tells her simply, "No one is ever told that."

We still miss you, Jonathan.

Tue, 03 Mar 2009 10:38:59 -0800 The Oven Bird http://reallygreengrass.posterous.com/the-oven-bird http://reallygreengrass.posterous.com/the-oven-bird There is a singer everyone has heard,
Loud, a mid-summer and a mid-wood bird,
Who makes the solid tree trunks sound again.
He says that leaves are old and that for flowers
Mid-summer is to spring as one to ten.
He says the early petal-fall is past
When pear and cherry bloom went down in showers
On sunny days a moment overcast;
And comes that other fall we name the fall.
He says the highway dust is over all.
The bird would cease and be as other birds
But that he knows in singing not to sing.
The question that he frames in all but words
Is what to make of a diminished thing.
- Robert Frost

The question that he frames in all but words.... is what to make of a diminished thing.

How often do I wonder that same thing? I doubt introspection is the answer, but maybe it's a start. Meanwhile, I thank God for a fresh coat of snow.

Flannery O'Connor wrote firmly believed that Christian writers might write the most disturbing books of all, because they were the most likely to see distortions of God's creation that others would miss. Maybe she would've said the same about photography?
